Elementary Administrator

Welcome Letter

Mustang Families,

Happy New Year and welcome to the 2016-17 scholastic year.  My name is Ruben Goussen and I am excited to be your Elementary Administrator (Assistant Principal) at Magnolia Elementary.  I come to you from the Perris Elementary School District where I worked as a TK-6th assistant principal.  Prior to that, I taught 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th grade in the Moreno Valley Unified School District for ten years.  Before receiving my degree and teaching credential I worked as a bilingual 4th/5th grade combo Teacher’s assistant and a K-5th intervention specialist in Los Angeles.

As I have gone through my career in education one thing has remained a constant passion, and that is doing my part to create college-bound students.  My part is making sure that students want to be here and present on a daily basis.  I do this by supporting teachers and making sure they are able to present innovative lessons that challenge and inspire our students.  I am also a firm believer that we must offer activities that draw upon student interests before/after and during school hours.  Thus, creating an environment that is conducive to learning and fun.

Students can do their part to become college bound by being present on a daily basis, fully engaging themselves in the learning process, and becoming active members of their school community.  I cannot wait to build upon the college-going environment on campus and molding lifelong learners.  It’s time to catch the college fever!

I look forward to building relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community in order to ensure student success.  Feel free to stop by and visit with any questions or concerns that you might have.  I hope to see you soon.

Ruben Goussen
